Getting DevSecOps Right

Rob Brown is currently the Chief Technology Officer at USCIS and former Integration Architect/Cloud Solutions Developer and EID Division Chief with USCIS. Rob has 20 years of experience providing technical, managerial and business development solutions to the IT industry. Rob has a thorough understanding of IT and business, leading to successful experiences in completing large scale IT deployments from the initial corporate IT strategy and vision to design, build and maintenance. Rob has been focusing on Domain Driven design, Event driven architecture and reactive micro services for the past 4 years. Rob has also been working to provide BizDevSecOps technical standards and governance at USCIS. He also has expertise in auditing, directing and managing corporate IT strategies for small to large sized commercial businesses. Additionally, Rob has a strong background in software development, health care, scientific research and biomedical industries. Rob holds a MS in Bioinformatics from George Mason University and a BS in Microbio/BioChem from Virginia Tech. He holds certifications from (ISC)2, ICAgile, ITIL, Fonality and Juniper. Prior to joining USCIS, Robert worked for Booz Allen Hamilton, Information Innovators, QSSI, V2 Systems, Ronin Tech Solutions, and American Red Cross.

Ryan Muray is the Founder and Executive Technical Director of ThoughtWorks Digital Platform Strategy (DPS) Group. The DPS group focuses on driving “engineering-centric” Digital Transformation for our clients with a “strategy-led, implementation powered” approach. My team delivers strategic and practical guidance informed by extensive field experience, all delivered through hands-on architecture leadership and software delivery across cloud native infrastructure, data platforming and legacy modernization efforts.

What gets me up in the morning is supporting client executives who realize that ambitious organizational change is always necessary to really deliver the full value of legacy modernization, cloud native architecture and broader cloud investments.

Before establishing DPS, I drove architecture modernization, platform strategy and implementation for several ThoughtWorks clients. I have over 20 years of global consulting and technical experience in the U.S., Europe and the MENA region.

Mr. Anthony Ortega is an experienced Senior Software Engineer with fifteen (15) years of experience leading full stack software development teams, he utilizes his knowledge of software development lifecycle phases and his expertise in several key DevSecOps technologies and technology stacks to provide superior technical solutions, applications, service-oriented architectures, and enterprise release management for several mission critical projects. He is forward thinking and works through challenges using innovative thinking and can solve problems in a unique way that offers opportunities for continuous learning for his team members. He’s led CI/CD and DevSecOps training for Army Futures Command to support the upcoming Army Software Factories effort and successfully implemented an innovation lab with continuous ATO capabilities. He holds several SAFe, Checkmarx, and Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) certifications, and he is also a Certified International Configuration Manager (CICM).
