Pentagon's BOND Eyes Private Sector Talent to Transform Cyber
September Secrist, BOND Advisor, War Department
The War Department has prioritized getting private-sector talent within its ranks to change how it equips the military with technology. The new Business Operators for National Defense (BOND) program is how the department hopes to accomplish that.
At TechNet Indo-Pacific in Honolulu, September Secrist, BOND advisor at DOW, shared how the department is building its tech workforce through industry rotations, apprenticeships and partnerships with colleges and universities through avenues like its Cyber Academic Engagement Office.
She shared how other emerging workforce development initiatives aim to equip cyber professionals with the skills needed to support evolving defense missions. This includes efforts like skills-based hiring assessments that are being conducted on site at the conference to help potential job candidates understand their strengths and growth opportunities in cybersecurity.
