If Congress, the White House and federal agencies don’t double annual AI spending now until 2025, the U.S. could lose its edge, noted Defense Department JAIC Director Lt. Gen. Michael Groen and National Security Commission on AI (NSCAI) Executive Director Yll Bajraktari said at AI Gov last week.

The Defense Department's Joint Artificial Intelligence Center is exploring a modernized approach to contracting that accelerates its rate of technological adoption and more efficiently delivers the benefits of AI capacities to the U.S. Armed Forces as a whole.

The Defense Innovation Unit is incorporating commercial artificial intelligence at agencies across the Defense Department to improve military health, business processes, humanitarian aid and a variety of other areas across DOD.
