CMS is Using New Methods to Recruit AI and Cybersecurity Staff
Andrea Fletcher says the agency is wielding direct hire authority and innovative recruitment methods to bolster its workforce.
The federal government, including in IT shops, has a shortage of young people. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is using innovative programs to recruit and hire young workers. Andrea Fletcher, chief digital strategy officer at CMS, discussed the ways her office is finding new hires, including direct hire authority and other methods. During one recent product manager hiring process, Fletcher said, CMS received over 500 applications for a single position.
At GovCIO Media & Research’s Health IT Summit, Fletcher discusses these hiring successes, collaboration in CMS modernization and new open-source products at the agency.
