Edmon Begoli, is a founding director of ORNL’s Center for AI Security Research (CAISER), and is a distinguished member of the ORNL research staff.

He specializes in the research, design, and development of resilient, secure, and scalable machine learning and analytic architectures. Additionally, Edmon has been leading national programs focused on AI security, fraud prevention, veteran suicide prevention (collaboration with PERC/REACH VET), precision, and personalized medicine (MVP CHAMPION). During his tenure at ORNL, Edmon led the design of original Knowledge Discovery Infrastructure (KDI) and the Citadel efforts, the first DOE platforms for computing on protected data, including leadership-class systems.

Edmon currently co-leads ORNL’s internal AI research initiative with focus on AI safety and security applications.

Edmon is a IEEE Computer Society distinguished contributor, ACM senior member of ACM and the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) committer. In 2022, Edmon was selected as a Google Research Innovator for his academic research in robust streaming and language processing architectures.

Edmon holds undergraduate, graduate (University of Colorado-Boulder), and doctoral degrees (University of Tennessee) in Computer Science. After his PhD, Edmon was a visiting scholar with the UC Berkeley EECS department, where he is currently an associated researcher with the Berkeley’s SKY Computing lab. In addition, Edmon regularly teaches graduate-level classes at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville, EECS department.

Tony is Research Programs Manager and an Associate Researcher in VA’s Office of Research and Development, where he leads complex interagency programs including the award-winning ASPIRE program, manages strategic partnerships, performs public outreach, provides education, and serves as a policy, ethics, and AI SME. While in government, Tony has used his expertise and leadership to guide strategy at multiple agencies, to author significant policy documents like the U.S. National AI R&D Strategy and NASA’s Trustworthy AI Policy, and in service of several VA, interagency, and professional groups. Before government, Tony was an accomplished professor, receiving grants and awards for his innovative curricula, methods, and programs, and the student organizations he founded. Tony holds five degrees and two graduate certificates from world-leading institutions including St Andrews, MIT, UVA, and Georgetown.

Dr. Amanda Bullock is an experienced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lead at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), where she spearheads digital transformation and modernization initiatives in AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics. With a Bachelor of Science in Statistics from Eastern Kentucky University and a Master of Science in Applied Statistics from Wright State University, Amanda brings a robust foundation in statistical analysis to her work. She earned her PhD in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in 2013, specializing in Statistical Signal Processing.

Following her postdoctoral work in Non-Destructive Evaluation and Non-GPS navigation, Amanda taught mathematics, biostatistics, statistics, signal processing, and data science at Wright State University, Central State University, and AFIT. Her academic tenure included a prestigious Fellowship at the Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, where she contributed to research in the Survivability and Lethality Analysis Directorate, further solidifying her expertise in advanced analytics and AI.
In 2017, Amanda transitioned into civil service, serving as the Project Engineer for the LEGACY program, an Air Force internship initiative aimed at recruiting students in STEM. She subsequently led the Enterprise Architecture Modeling team in 2019 before becoming the AFRL Deputy Chief Data Officer in 2022.

Currently, Amanda is the AI Lead for the Digital Capabilities Directorate and the Strategic Advisor for Generative AI in AFRL, where she focuses on reducing business toil through AI, connecting AFRL, DoD, and industry AI efforts, and upskilling the workforce in AI/ML/Advanced Analytics. She has played a key role in launching some of the first experiments using Generative AI in the Department of the Air Force (DAF), and is actively involved in experimenting with and integrating commercial Generative AI tools across AFRL.

Amanda’s research interests encompass STEM education, Generative AI, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Signal Processing. She is passionate about leveraging her expertise in AI and analytics to drive innovation and modernization within the Air Force and beyond.

Jonathan Elliott is the Director of Assurance & Assessment (A2) for the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO). He has more than a decade of experience in T&E of unmanned, autonomous, and AI systems. Previously, Jon was Principal Project Lead and Group Lead at MITRE. He led the federally funded research and development center’s efforts to develop AI Assurance methodologies and, since 2019, worked to stand up the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), now the CDAO. In addition, he served as Chief Engineer for Autonomy, Artificial Intelligence Test (AAIT) Technology, at the Test Resource Management Center (TRMC). In that role, he oversaw development of new science and technology tools to test AI and autonomy. He led multiple large T&E efforts related to AI and autonomy programs and helped architect the T&E of AI Framework, currently implemented at the CDAO. Jon has M.S. and B.S. degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Maryland.

Frank Indiviglio serves as NOAA’s Chief Technology Officer, leading the development and implementation of technology initiatives across NOAA. He served as NOAA’s Deputy Director, High Performance Computing and Communications. Before that, he was the Technical Lead for NOAA’s R&D HPC infrastructure at the National Environmental Security Center in Fairmont, West Virginia, and the National Climate Research Center at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. He was also a Senior Data Engineer at NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory in Princeton, NJ.

Before joining NOAA, Mr. Indiviglio was a Senior Research Associate at Cornell University’s Weill Medical College and Director of IT services in Columbia University’s Department of Pharmacology. He was also a systems engineer at Silicon Graphics in the Federal civilian and media markets. Mr. Indiviglio received a BS in Information Systems from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

Bryan Lane is a writer, speaker, and technology advisor focused on using data and AI for the public good. He is currently serving as a member of the Stimson Center Loomis Innovation Council and the Assistant Director for Business Intelligence at the FDIC. Prior to that, he co-founded the government-wide Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence at GSA, where he supported organizations like the DoD Chief Digital and AI Office. While in government service, he has developed nearly $1B in AI and data related contracts and deployed enterprise-wide capabilities to hybrid-cloud platforms of all kinds. He has built and scaled teams for enterprise use cases in intelligent automation, natural language processing, computer vision, and data orchestration. Prior to joining the federal government, Bryan led product management for a software firm that was strategically acquired for $250M and was an analytic consultant for IBM. He also served as an active duty Marine and Arabic linguist, with deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan during the Global War on Terror. He routinely writes on AI, data, and society and has been featured in widely distributed Medium publications such as HumanParts, OneZero, The Generator, and DATA XD.

Brian J. Peretti is a career member of the Senior Executive Service at the United States Department of the Treasury. He serves as Treasury’s Deputy Chief Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer and Director, Domestic and International Cybersecurity Policy in the Office of Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure Protection (OCCIP).

As Treasury’s Deputy Chief AI Officer, Mr. Peretti supports Treasury’s Chief AI Officer in advancing the Department’s deployment of this emerging technology. In this capacity, he oversaw the publication of Treasury’s report, Managing Artificial Intelligence-Specific Cybersecurity Risks in the Financial Services Sector, and directs the subsequent lines of effort. Additionally, serving in this position has seen him designated as the Executive Officer for the Department’s AI Governance Board as well as the Department’s representative to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence’s CAIO Council.

In addition, Mr. Peretti leads the development of domestic and international operational resilience policy, including cyber, as part of Treasury’s Sector Risk Management Agency responsibility for the financial services sector. In this role, he spearheads Treasury’s efforts to increase multi-directional sharing of cyber threat and vulnerability information. He also serves as United States’s designated subject matter expert at the Group of 7 Cyber Expert Group (G-7 CEG).

Mr. Peretti has served at the Treasury for over 22 years with increasing levels of responsibility, including being named the Senior Career Official Executing the Duties of the Assistant Secretary for Financial Institutions during the transition from the Obama to the Trump Administration. Based on his expertise in critical infrastructure protection and the operational resilience of the financial services sector, during the United States initial response phase to the COVID-19 pandemic, he was detailed to
the Department of Homeland Security, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s National Risk Management Center and served as the first Senior Advisor for Security and the Economy, leveraging his extensive background in financial services operational resilience.

A sought-after speaker and presenter, Mr. Peretti has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors throughout his career. Most recently, he received the 12th Annual Billington CyberSecurity Leadership Award at the 2023 Annual Billington CyberSecurity Summit. Prior to joining the Treasury, Mr. Peretti was an associate in Shook, Hardy & Bacon’s Corporate Banking and Finance Section in Washington, D.C., and was the General Counsel for the Wright Patman Congressional Federal Credit Union. He has authored numerous publications related to financial sector operations, including payment systems.

Mr. Peretti received his bachelor’s degree from Rider University (cum laude) in 1989, and his law degree from American University, Washington College of Law (cum laude) in 1992. He lives in the Washington, DC area with his wife, Kimberly Peretti.

Ms. Lakshmi Raman is currently the Director of Artificial Intelligence Innovation for the CIA where she is working to champion, orchestrate, and integrate AI activities across the organization. She has been an officer in the Agency since 2002, when she entered on duty as a software developer. Since then, she served in various capacities including leading numerous software development efforts in support of the Agency and the IC, directing large-scale data science and business analytics efforts, and promoting and facilitating intelligence integration and information sharing between the CIA and IC partners. Ms. Raman holds a B.S. from the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign and a M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Chicago.

Dr. Sadovnik is the Research Lead for the newly established Center for AI Security Research (CAISER) at Oak Ridge National Lab. As part of this role, Dr. Sadovnik leads multiple research projects related to AI risk, adversarial AI, and large language model vulnerabilities. As one of the founders of CAISER, he’s helping to shape its strategy and operations through partnership development, workshop organization, teaching, and outreach.

In addition to his work and publications in AI and AI security, Dr. Sadovnik has a deep interest in workforce development and computer science education. Prior to joining the lab, he served as an assistant professor in the department of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and as an assistant professor in the department of computer science at Lafayette College. He received his PhD from the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Cornell University, advised by Prof. Tsuhan Chen as member of the Advanced Multimedia Processing Lab. Prior to arriving at Cornell he received his bachelor’s in electrical and computer engineering from The Cooper Union.

He continues to teach graduate courses related to machine leaning and artificial intelligence at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Kris is a recognized leader in the United States Army people enterprise, who has spent the past eight years investigating new technologies and analytics, pairing them with teams of talented individuals, partnering with academia and industry to deliver best practices, and attacking the Army’s most pressing challenges in people analytics and talent management.

Since she arrived at the HQDA G-1 in 2016, she established data, analytics, and innovation teams and capabilities for the Army Talent Management Task Force, for the ASA(M&RA)’s People Analytics directorate, for US Army Human Resources Command, and is now designing the Innovation Directorate for US Army Recruiting Command.

Martin Stanley, AI and Cybersecurity Researcher, leads the NIST AI Risk Management Framework (AI RMF) efforts at the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, Information Technology Laboratory. Martin previously led the Emerging Technology and R&D Program at CISA and the Enterprise Cybersecurity Program at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Prior to his federal service Martin held executive leadership positions at Vonage and UUNET Technologies.  Martin co-authored “Digital Health”, an Oxford University Press Publication.

Davon Tyler is the acting deputy chief operating officer for information technology management and the chief information security officer (CISO) for the U.S. Department of Education (ED) office of Federal Student Aid (FSA). He also serves as director of the FSA Enterprise Cybersecurity Group. FSA administers the federal student aid programs, which—in Fiscal Year 2023—provided more than $114 billion in federal grants, loans, and work-study funds to nearly 9.7 million students attending approximately 5,400 postsecondary institutions. In total, FSA manages a federal student loan portfolio valued at more than $1.6 trillion representing more than 45 million borrowers.

Under Tyler’s leadership, FSA’s Enterprise Cybersecurity Group is responsible for implementing FSA’s portion of ED’s Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) and cybersecurity requirements. Such requirements include ensuring safeguards are in place to protect the critical data that FSA has been entrusted with and rapidly responding to cyber threats to quickly mitigate FSA’s exposure.

In December 2022, Tyler joined FSA from the Technology Modernization Fund Program Management Office within the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA). There, he served as the cyber investment manager responsible for advising GSA and Office of Management and Budget leadership about cyber proposals across the federal government. Prior to his time with the GSA, Tyler served as the chief information security officer for the U.S. Mint, where he was responsible for overseeing the Mint’s Authorization and Assessment implementation, as well as the Security Operations Center. Previously, Tyler worked in senior positions at the Defense Information Systems Agency and was an active-duty member of the U.S. Navy.

With more than 20 years of combined public and private sector experience, Tyler is recognized as an expert in cybersecurity with skills in network and system engineering, program management, and financial and acquisition management.

Tyler earned an associate of applied science degree in information technology from the State of New York University Empire State College while on active naval duty. In addition, he holds undergraduate and master’s degrees in cybersecurity and a Master of Business Administration, all from the University of Maryland Global Campus.
