Agencies are continuously updating their software development lifecycles and IT operations. More than ever, it’s critical for them to maintain a short timeframe during this process to improve workflows. Strong DevSecOps strategies and transformational cultures are critical for developing modern, efficient and secure digital services to meet agency mission needs. This includes agile methods in coding, infrastructure support and security, and building the skilled workforce to collaborate and support these services.

The Defense Department’s new software modernization strategy, announced in February, calls for all military service branches and DOD components to implement DevSecOps practices to improve software delivery and security, highlighting DOD software factories as the leaders in this effort. Defense leaders have also described DevSecOps as critical to implementing the Joint All Domain Command-and-Control (JADC2) initiative, elevating software factories to harbingers of DOD IT modernization. Hear from Army Software Factory and the Air Force’s Kessel Run and 309th Software Engineering Group about how they’re preparing DOD IT for the future.
