How Data Visibility, Zero Trust Are Key to Mission-Embedded AI

Chad Tetreault, Public Sector CTO, AI Strategy and Governance, Zscaler

Federal agencies are grappling with how to assess artificial intelligence models safely and ensure they meet cybersecurity standards. They’re doing so while integrating the technology into very different operating environments with unique missions, whether that be health care, intelligence or defense, for example.

Zscaler Public Sector CTO of AI Strategy and Governance Chad Tetreault emphasized that visibility is a top concern he hears from federal customers as AI models function as “black boxes” that require transparency into how they handle sensitive data. He discussed how zero trust architecture enables organizations to protect and govern data across both humans and autonomous agents.

He also addressed the rise of shadow AI and how providing agencies with a generative AI security report can help identify use cases in their enterprises.
