Cybersecurity IT Leaders Recognized with Flywheel Awards at CyberScape Summit

Key federal cyber leaders were presented with Flywheel Awards during the event in recognition for their contributions to, and impact on, the cyber IT ecosystem.

Fairfax, Va. – GovCIO Media & Research, a leading federal technology multimedia company, hosted the annualCyberScape Summit on March 7 in Reston, Va. Key federal cybersecurity leaders received Flywheel Awards during the event in recognition for their contributions to the federal IT ecosystem.  

“It is our goal to continuously recognize these transformative leaders in the federal IT cyber community,” said GovCIO Media & Research Editor-in-Chief Amy Kluber. “The CyberScape Summit was created to learn from leaders who are transforming the future of federal technology, and we are thrilled to have been able to recognize some of them at our event.”  

The awards presentation featured six categories: Cyber Defender, Cyber Leader, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Year, Cybersecurity Rising Star and Zero Trust Advocate. Among those recognized were leaders from the Department of Veteran Affairs, Department of Education, U.S. Digital Corps, Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Department of State. The winners were:  

Cyber Defender 

  • Amber Pearson – Deputy CISO and Executive Director of Information Security Policy and Strategy, Department of Veteran Affairs 

Cyber Leader 

  • Vincent Sritapan – Service Innovation Section Chief, CISA 

CISO of the Year 

  • Donna Bennett – CISO, Department of State   

Cybersecurity Rising Star 

  • Brittney Wright – NIH Fellow, U.S. Digital Corps 

Zero Trust Advocate 

  • Wayne Rodgers – Zero Trust Lead, Department of Education 

“It is an honor to be recognized today by my peers across the federal space,” said Donna Bennett, CISO at the Department of State. “I am grateful for all of the great minds I work with [at] the Department of State and our partners across the federal space and private sector as we bolster our cybersecurity efforts. It really is a community effort.”
