Health IT Leaders Receive Flywheel Awards from GovCIO Media & Research

Five health IT leaders were presented with Flywheel Awards in recognition of their contributions and impact on the health IT ecosystem.

Fairfax, Va. – GovCIO Media & Research, a leading federal technology multimedia company, hosted the annual Health IT Summit on Sept. 19 in Rockville, Maryland. Key health IT leaders were presented with Flywheel Awards during the event in recognition of their contributions and impact on the health IT ecosystem. 

“These awards highlight the importance of transformation in government technology,” said Editor-in-Chief Amy Kluber. “Each year, we look forward to bringing this community together to foster connections and recognize the important work of health IT leaders across government.” 

The awards presentation featured five categories: Rising Star, Interoperability Leader, Digital Transformer, Innovation Champion and Health Equity Advocate. Among those recognized were leaders from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Digital Service Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), The National Institutes of Health (NIH), and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The winners were:  

Rising Star 

  • Remy DeCausemaker, Open Source Lead, Digital Service, CMS    

Interoperability Leader  

  • Steven Posnack, Deputy National Coordinator for Health IT, ONC 

Digital Transformer  

  • Mahua Mitra, Chief of Enterprise Platform Services, CIT, NIH   

Innovation Champion  

  • Stephen Sinders, IT Specialist, VA 

Health Equity Advocate  

  • Michelle Tarver, Deputy Director for Transformation, CDRH FDA
